Day 16

Nothing Exciting going on today with the exception of a couple of emails from my students saying hello. Those emails mean the world to me. I try to send an email to 7 or 8 students each day just to let them know I am thinking of them. I miss all of them so much.

Is this how I am going to feel when I retire? I planned to retire at the end of the next school year 2020-2021 but now I wonder if I am ready to walk away from the kids? Maybe I would feel better of I could go on day trips instead of staying at home. Well it is still one year away.

I spent this rainy day in the house. I made the 'miss you' poster and I watched a little TV. Watched the movie "The Greatest Showman" I really enjoyed that one. Great music! And I made meatballs. I do love my homemade meatballs and sauce after they simmer all day, yummy. I made lots so we have left overs for tomorrow.

Now I am going to watch American Idol and then head to bed unless I end up watching "Friends" reruns until midnight. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE that show and who can't use some laughs at this point in time?

So what did you do today? Leave me a message and be sure to stay healthy.

Signs of Spring

Today was day 14 of my stay at home. What a beautiful day, weather wise. I loved sitting outside today. I saw a couple of signs of spring in my yard. Some flowers starting to bloom in a couple of different places

I sat on the swing in my back yard and just stared at the area that used to be my in ground pool. Now we have some dirt and a lot of work ahead as we redesign the landscape in the back yard.

I'm sure it will look great soon enough as my husband is very creative with the landscaping all around our yard.
I am also happy to report that I finally won a game of rummy! Every day my daughter and I play a game of rummy 500 and she has won every day until today!!

Next week I am sure there will be a lot less time to relax as the state of Massachusetts will begin remote learning very soon. I really am looking forward to working with my students once again, even if its not in person.

Everyone stay healthy and get outside to enjoy some warm weather.

School Closings extended

May 4th, That is the earliest that any school in the state can reopen. Governor just made that announcement. Wow that is 6 more weeks at home without seeing my kids. When we do return I will only have a few weeks with my seniors and then I have to say goodbye. This makes me so sad and angry that all this has happened. Oh well, on the positive side I have a lot more time with my daughter since she is a teacher too.
Norton public schools have been having a virtual spirit week and today was beach day. Too bad we didn't have nice weather for me to sit outside.

Today went by so fast, I can't believe it is already 6:30 pm. I had 3 video conferences this afternoon and that kept me busy. I especially enjoyed the video chat with the math department. I miss them all.

well that is all for today. Let's hope for better weather tomorrow so I can get outside.

Day 11

Hi Everyone, nothing too exciting happening here. Today was purple pride day for our Norton Virtual Spirit week and Jennifer and I both participated.

Tomorrow is beach day and I am all excited for that one. I have all my beach accessories ready to go.

Today I spent most of the day on my computer trying to finish up my Algebra 2 curriculum including all the daily smartboards. I did take a couple of breaks to call and talk to family and friends.

My cold seems to be getting worse so I don't have much energy. Looks like some nyquil and early to bed for me.

So what did you do today? I hope your day was a little more exciting than my day.

Talk to everyone again tomorrow afternoon.
Stay healthy

Day 10

Hello Everyone, another day at home! Seems like more people will be staying home now that the governor made his new announcement.

Today, Governor Charlie Baker issued an emergency order requiring all businesses and organizations that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers and the public as of Tuesday, March 24th at noon until Tuesday, April 7th at noon.

This makes me happy because now my husband will not have to go to work. I get nervous whenever anyone goes out. Stay home where it is safe.

Today is the start of spirit week for Norton Schools. I'm excited for each day especially Wednesday!

Today we rock the socks!

This morning Jennifer and I played some cards and once again she beat me at a game of rummy. I will win one of these days, or least I hope I do. After I finish this post I am going to do a little school work and all the academic coordinators will be having a virtual meeting (google hangout)

I enjoy doing school work makes me feel connected to school and my students.

Until tomorrow's post, stay healthy!

Social Distancing day 9

Day 9 of social distancing,

Today was basically a lazy day for me. I have a cold that I can't seem to get rid of and I didn't have much energy today. The big activity today was cooking a turkey dinner. I cooked a turkey wrapped in bacon

Along with the turkey I also cooked  potatoes, corn, stuffing and gravy. Very similar to a Thanksgiving meal. Now we have turkey left overs for the week. I think we will be eating a lot of turkey sandwiches. At least that is something good for Larry, my husband, to bring to work for lunch. He only has one week off and his school has the custodial staff returning tomorrow morning.  I'm not very happy about that decision to make them all work, but I have nothing to say about it.

Hopefully I feel a little better tomorrow and have more energy so I have something a little more exciting to blog about.

Stay safe everyone!

Decorating Day

Today was the day to decorate. My husband took the Easter decorations down from the attic so I went through everything and put out some displays this morning. I don't have too many decorations but enough to put a smile on my face.  The living room table has a small basket with wooden eggs that Jennifer painted when she was little (over 20 years ago)

My 4 shelf display has our favorite jelly beans in the candy dish on the top shelf, starburst. The third shelf includes the one Christmas decoration that stays out year round. Days left until Christmas.

I even put a few decorations in the bathroom. I love that we put in glass shelves when we remodeled 2 years ago.

While I was putting out Easter decorations, Larry and Jennifer were outside doing more yard work. They were moving wheel barrels full of loom out to the back yard where the pool used to be.
Now we are all taking a lunch break and then I may spend some time this afternoon doing school work.
I hope everyone finds something to do to keep them busy and most importantly everyone needs to stay healthy.

Corona week one

Finding time to blog has been difficult lately, but not now. All school sin the state have closed due to this terrible pandemic Coronavirus. Now I have plenty of time to do all the things that I have wanted to do around the house. I have my husband and daughter home with me since they both work in education and their schools are closed as well. The only member missing from this family is my son, Bryan, who is currently at Fort Sill in Oklahoma at field artillery officer training school until June 23rd. Hopefully the base is not letting anyone in so that they all remain healthy.
Today ends the first week of what is being called social distancing and it hasn't been too bad. I just wish the weather was better. Too many rainy days. I want to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
So far I have done the following activities;
  • Put away all my St Patrick's Day decorations
  • Planted my vegetables for the garden
  • got a greenhouse put together for the back yard (need a place for the veggies)
  • supervised my husband and daughter as they built a new focal area in the back yard for garden and water feature
  • Emailed all my students to let them know I was thinking of them
  • Did some school curriculum work
Tomorrow I hope to get all the Easter decorations out of the attic and decorate the house.
As long as we are away from school I believe I will post on this blog everyday with what I am doing with my time. I hope others will comment on this blog to share what they are doing during our "coronacation"

This is the new focal area in the back yard. We needed something since the former focal area (in ground pool) is no longer there.

Until my next post......stay healthy
