Mathematics, Magic, and Mystery

April is national mathematics awareness month and this year's theme is mathematics, magic and mystery. Norton high will have its annual amazing race with questions that deal with this topic. If anyone has any ideas of other activities we can do to celebrate please let me know.

Math Field Trip

I have started planning our field trip, math day at six flags. This field trip is for all the Pre-Calc classes and the AP Calc class. we will be going on Friday May 2nd. I know that is far away, but we have to order and pay for the tickets before March 31st. Normal admission tickets cost $49.99 but we get a discount for an education group. The cost will be $42 which includes the admission and the bus. You will have to bring money with you to buy lunch. If Mu Alpha Theta can make some money with their fundraising then the honor society will help pay for the bus and I will return some money to you.
I will start collecting money when we return from vacation and you will have approximately 2 weeks to pay.

We will only be taking the first 88 students that pay. We will not return to school until 5pm to check your sports schedules and your work schedule.

Pi Day

March 14th is fast approaching. Wouldn't you love to have a pi day t-shirt to wear? You can order one from Mu Alpha Theta. See Mrs. Taylor with payment before February 14th.

Snow day?

So what do you think, will we have our third snow day of the year tomorrow? This is one snowy winter. There is even more snow in the forecast for Sunday/Monday. The only bad thing about missing school is that means less AP Calc classes before our big exam on May 7th.

Christmas is over now time to blog about snow

When the holidays are over I usually start blogging about weather, snow storms. I do so much writing about snow that I have now started a blog devoted solely to the weather.  http://marysweather.blogspot.com/

This winter has started off very snowy. I wonder how many snow days we will have? What is the highest amount of snow days that Norton High has had in the past 15 years? Maybe we will set the record this year.
