Christmas Time at Disney

I recently spent 3 days at Disney world in Florida. This was the first time I had gone there during Christmas time. WOW! Disney knows how to decorate. I was in awe of all the giant Christmas trees.

This is the tree from Main Street at Magic Kingdon

This tree is floating out in the pond at Hollywood Studios

This tree is five stories high and can be found at the Grand Floridian

This is the tree in the lobby of the Polynesian resort

Epcot tree with the monorail in the back

I really wish I had more than 3 days to see everything. I missed out on so much but I will be back there some day for another Christmas and I will stay longer.

Disney and Christmas, two of my favorites!

I love my TV specials

as we all know because I have blogged about this, I love the Christmas specials on television. I love them so much I try to incorporate some in my math class. Next week my class will be discussing the math in the movie "Elf".

Christmas TV Specials have begun

Since Thanksgiving has come and gone it is now time for Christmas! Tonight we have lots of Christmas specials on TV. I am a little upset that there are 3 good ones on all at the same time. ABC has Santa Clause is coming to town, CBS has Frosty the Snowman and NBC has How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I will have to set the DVR. Next week Rudolph is on CBS Tuesday night and then on Thursday night at 8pm ABC has  A Charlie Brown Christmas and following that there is the Disney Christmas special. Unfortunately I will miss both of those as I will be on a plane headed to Disney World. This is my favorite time of there for television. I look forward to watching everything. I will keep you posted of when the classics will be on television.

Tis the season

Do enjoy watching the once a year specials on television? I certainly do! I always look forward to the Christmas specials and they are about to start. Freeform channel is starting tomorrow morning at 7am with Nightmare before Christmas. The specials continue all day and include "The year without a Santa Clause", "Disney Christmas Carol" and "home alone." As the holiday gets closer I will check all the websites that list when the specials are on TV and I will post the schedule here on my blog. I am sure all the networks will start showing Christmas specials once Thanksgiving is over. and don't forget to watch "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" on November 22nd at 8pm on ABC.

Winter is coming

Are you ready? Friday we will get our first taste of winter. The projected high temperature of the day is 32 degrees. We may hit record low temperatures according to WBZ

When I hear about cold temperatures all I can think about is SNOW.  so now I will start searching all weather sites looking for some snow for our area.

There is a facebook page "southern new england severe weather" and they are talking about a storm the weekend before Thanksgiving that could be a wintry mix. I'll keep you posted.

Enjoy your veteran's day weekend! Thank you to all the men and women serve, including my son and several of my former students.

on to the next Holiday

So Halloween is over and now we should be thinking of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately most people forget about this holiday and go straight to Christmas. I am thinking about Christmas as I start to do some shopping but my house is decorated for Thanksgiving not Christmas. one of my favorite things about the holiday season is watching the television specials. Not many for Thanksgiving though. We have A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on ABC the night before Thanksgiving and then the Macy's day parade on Thanksgiving day. I always enjoy watching some classic "Friends" episodes dealing with Thanksgiving. Love the episode when Joey gets the turkey stuck on his head.

Television Specials

Welcome to my favorite time of the year. We have Halloween one week away, Thanksgiving right around the corner giving way to my favorite, Christmas. I love decorating and most of all I enjoy watching all the television specials about the holidays. To get things started I watched It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown last week.
If you want to get your horror fix you can turn into the AMC Fearfest which starts tonight. I am watching Halloween H20 as I write this blog. AMC has horror movies on every day from now until Halloween. go to the web site below to see the schedule

There is a new special out this year on CBS.  They are getting into the spirit of the season this year with Michael Jackson’s Halloween, a new one-hour animated special featuring the music of Michael Jackson. This is on October 27 at 8pm.

Freeform channel started their 13 days of Halloween last week. They are showing movies like Adams Family, Sleepy Hollow, Nightmare Before Christmas and one of my favorites, Hocus Pocus. In fact they are having a Hocus Pocus marathon on Halloween. The link to a complete list of shows and times is below

First week of School

I have met all my students and I believe this is going to be a great school year. I am going to stay healthy and teach the entire year, which I haven't done for a couple of years.
I am team teaching for the first time in 15 years. Mrs Kearney and I are going to have a great time together. I hope our students enjoy the Algebra II class.
Something else that I am excited about is being a class advisor. I am going to advise the freshmen class with Mr. Paulus. We are going to make an awesome duo.
I hope everyone has a great school year!

a little venting

I go to a lot of sporting events and there is one thing that bothers me all the time. I really wish people would not stand in front of me. Find a seat like everyone else so we can all see. I'm just asking people to be considerate of others. please keep this in mind the next time you go to an event, Thanks
