September

Wow, the first week of school is over. Anyone else tired? It was a short week and I am so tired. I'm ready to go to bed for the night and it is only 6:30. This happens to me every year. My body is so used to being relaxed all the time and now I am on the go from 5:45am until this time at night. I shouldn't be complaining because most teenagers, if they are anything like my children, are on the go more than me. My daughter gets off the school bus at 3:00, does homework, eats dinner and is back at school for color guard by 5pm. She gets home from that at 9pm and goes back to homework. Hopefully is asleep by 11:00 only to get up at 6am and start all over again. Thank goodness the youth have so much energy. I need a little energy myself right now to go outside and pick up all the small items that may blow away when the storm Hanna comes through this area tomorrow. One thing you may not know about me is that I love the weather. I watch the weather channel for fun and I check www.weather.com at least twice a day. It is more like twice every hour when there is a storm coming. Weather has many connections with math so I guess it makes sense that I am fascinated with it. I wonder what things fascinate my students? Why don't you let me know.

I agree. You know, Mrs. Taylor, I think that enthusiasm is one of the great characteristics to maintain in a tough world. You are my model for enthusiasm! Good job!

I think your fascination with weather is cool. One thing that my friends think is weird is my fascination with hypnosis. I am so interested in hypnosis, and I even have a few books on it. The power of suggestion can be so astonishing! Although I cannot be hypnotized personally, and you probably wouldn't want to see me, I would love to actually hypnotize someone and have them under my control....oh, the possibilites haha!!!

wow kevin! i didnt know that about you. For me, when i get bored or something i will turn on the TV and watch shows like Modern Marvels. i think it is so interesting how some things are made.

I actually constantly check the weather when i can, too! I like to see the different websites weather reports, usually they are all a little different. I also like to watch my favorite shows like Rebecca.

I love to keep busy with work, school, and dance. I have danced my whole life, excluding last year when I needed a year to breathe. I work at Patriot Place Cinema De Lux a few days a week. A lot of my classmates work there, too.

Cool, I really like having a sweet thunderstorm once in a while! When one is coming, believe me, I stay updated on it. If the storm seems severe enough, I get my camera out and record some of it. I have actually gotten some really cool shots of lightning bolts! If there is a place to share these I will be more than happy to. When I was really little I wanted to be a weatherman, but not anymore.

I'm fascinated by the outdoors. I love the mountains. I hope to move to Colorado or Utah eventually.

I don't check the weather that often. I guess I just wait an see what's it's like when I get outside. I guess figuring out how to make graphics and code web pages is my most recent fascination.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Alyssa. I take the weather as it comes. I am facinated by stars however. It's an odd obsession. I end my day just looking up for about fifteen minutes. Its my way of meditation and reflecting on what possibilities are out there.

That's pretty cool that you love to check the weather! I never knew that. To be honest, I only check the weather in the mornings to find out what kind of clothing I should wear to school.

To be completely random, my most recent fascination relates to school and how well my classmates and I manage our time. We all know time management, especially in high school, is very important. Talking to many different people about hobbies, sports, clubs, and such, I was fascinated by the way my classmates manage to finish important school work while also joining a sport team or joining a school club or watching their favorite show or playing an instrument. I think it's pretty sweet!

To comment on Kev's blog, I got hypnotised at the school hypnotist show last year! Haha!

Hey alyssa, maybe you could teach me some html at work some days? Oh wait, I forgot, you don't work with me anymore!!! And Amanda, YOU ARE TOO BUSY!

I guess photography is something that fascinates me. I love taking pictures of the outdoors and I'm amazed at how blue the sky and how green the grass can look in pictures. I'd love to live somewhere that has beautiful views someday.

I watch the weather every morning, even if I don't have a clue afterwards because I'm so tired. Like Rebecca, I watch TV, but I choose to do that more than just when I'm bored. If I'm home and not doing homework, I'll be playing Xbox or watching shows like Seinfeld, Scrubs, That '70s Show Survivor! and Heroes! (starts 9/22/2008 at 9 on NBC- everyone should check it out). Wish I had a job. But I do karate, bowling and Boy Scouts so thats good for taking up time too. Who can fidure out who I am?

I have to agree with you Mrs. Taylor; after the first week and a half of school, I am exhausted! During vacation, I could relax and not do much in a day, but during the school year, I get so busy. With waking up early, going to school, going to ballet, then homework and sleep, it seems like there aren't enough hours in a day!
I also love the weather. It's so interesting as to how it changes, and I absolutely love thunder storms (as long as they're not dangerous). I think they're extremely calming.

I don't watch the weather unless its already on. When there are hurricanes i tend to check weather.com alot! I am absolutely fasinated with math to be honest. Im not trying to be a suck up haha. I just like being able to connect everything with something.

And to comment on kevin's comment, hypnosis is really cool and it seems very interesting, but I'm to scared to let someone hypnotise me haha!

Glad I'm not the only one that is so interested in the weather. I check it online so I know what to wear to school, like Priya said. I'm fascinated with pyschology and how the mind works, and I love foreign languages. I agree with Caroline Allen. I love the mountains, and I want to live somewhere peaceful and beautiful someday, somewhere out of the way of the busy world we live in. It's really nice to get away sometimes. Every summer, I go camping for two weeks with my mom, and I love it.

Kev, I think hypnosis is pretty cool too, but I would never have enough guts to actually do it. My fascination is actually organization. I love to look for new ways to keep things in their place and get all the latest gadgets. I am obsessed with staying organized, color coding and neat handwriting. I may sound OCD, but I promise I can handle a mess when it happens.

I completely agree with Priya...the only time I check the weather is when I'm figuring out what I'm goign to wear. As for Kevin, you tried to hypnotize me one time, but I kind of ruined it with my constant laughing and colleen's parents calling my house haha sorry! As for me, I love basketball and I play all year long; winter, spring, summer, and fall! One of my random interests is scrapbooking, but I rarely have time for that.

The thing that fascinates me the most is people...some people i know are so focused on goals and things like that it just fascinates me. I think about how unfocused my life is and then i see my friends with all these dreams and desires and i want to find direction in my life.

What fascinates me the most is sports. I love the way athletes can make their bodies do things to perform amazing feats. I also find it amazing how they can do it day after day, play after play. I can just sit and watch any sport at any time of day for however long and become entranced no matter what.

I don't usually check the weather but I love to watch storms, especially on the cape. It's really cool to watch the fog come in over the water and to listen to the fog horns from the ships.

I never watch the weather! Usually my mom will watch it and I just ask her what its going to be like that day. And yes...I'm also very tired. So far Ive had a golf match every single day after school except for one and I don't usually get home at night until around 8. After I shower I do my homework until I pretty much fall asleep haha. It pretty much consumes my life...but it's really fun.

I always try to keep an eye out for what the weather will be like, but I wouldn't say I was facinated by it. But after reading Brad's blog, I might start taking a few minutes out of my day to stare at the stars. It sounds like a nice way to end a busy day.

Oh, by the way, you're not fooling anyone Dean.

I have to agree with Aaron about sports. That is another thing I love to watch. I watch all sports except boxing or wrestling.I'm looking forward to seeing what the Patriots do today without Tom Brady. I do have a little conflict because the Nascar race is on this afternoon too.

I also agree with aaron, sports fascinate me. This summer i liked watching the olympics, especially the gymnastics. It was cool to watch the gymnasts do all sorts of flips and stuff that most people can't do.

Anonymous said...

Yeah I watch the weather every morning, but other than that I dont have much time to watch tv. Most of my time is spent practicing violin or listening to my orchestra music. I am fascinated by practicing and performing techniques from famous musicians.

Anonymous said...

I agree with what brad said. I think thats a great idea to relax after a long day!

Kevin, I KNOW I'm too busy, but look who's talking!

And I really enjoy weather, too. I love the smell of rain and snow. I'm not a fan of the cold, but I guess I'll have to deal with it consider I live in New England!

And I hope you're feeling better Mrs. Taylor! We're all here for you if you need anything!

I don't think i could ever have enough patience to learn about how to code web pages alyssa, but i do find it very interesting. Like most people i also check the weather daily, even more if there is a big storm coming (snow storms ore the best.)

I am fascinated by how different peoples brains can function, like how I could spand any day do a nice big puzzle and other people would say that that is the last thing that they would ever do with their free time.

I also agree with Aaron. I enjoy watching sports especially the New England teams.

I, like Priya and Cassidy, usually only watch the weather so I know what to wear to school. But this year my brother feels the need to treat me like a weatherwoman, and asks me the weather every morning, so, I have another reason why I should always know the weather! My fascination is in all the different world cultures. I love learning about how people from around the world spend their day, and of their different customs and traditions.

I agree with Kerrin. The olympics were my favorite thing to watch during summer vacation. I wish they were on all year round. The random sports like trampoline and water polo are always fun to watch!

I've always had an interest in the weather. What REALLY fascinates me is space and the universe in general. I love talking about it and hypothesizing the possibilities that lie out there.

Any of you who like sports go to CBS Scene in Patriot Place. I went there for my uncle's party and we sat ten feet away from a tv that was 20 feet long! It was sorta expensive though, but it was amazing.

haha kevin! yeah kevin tried to hypnotize me in Mr. Paulhus's room last year..too bad it didn't work. I really want to get hypnotized though! kevin, keep trying so you can do it to me!! :]

Leah your house on the cape seems like it's fun!

to comment on Cassidy, I love camping too! I think its so fun to leave civilization and spend a few days just hanging out in the woods!
I also have to agree with Elizabeth Faxon and say that people do really fascinate me. Each person's dreams and aspirations in life are interesting and its good to see the different ways of their approaching them.

The first couple weeks of school are always exhausting. Especially going back to the homework and activities. Thannkfully after a few weeks I've usually adjusted and fallen into the pattern of things again.
