Red Sox time is here!

Everyone has reported to Spring training and the first pre-season game is Wednesday at 7:05. I am very excited, but I will have to skip this game because our boys basketball team has its playoff game at the same time and they are more important to me than the Redsox.

I agree Mrs. Taylor. Watching our Lancers is more of a 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience, so the game is where I will be!

I've never been much of a baseball fan, but I am excited about the start of the season. I don't really watch the game, but I like hearing everyone talk about the score and the players the next day. I definately agree with Alyssa about being excited about the warmer weather that's hopefully coming soon!

I, like Jessica, do not go to watch the games often, but this year I would like to go and watch.

Play ball!!! Baseball season is my favortie time of year. There is no better place to be than Fort Meyers in the spring time! Although I do have to agree with Kevin I will miss this game because I will also be watching our Lancers. I cannot wait for the regular season. I smell a championship!

although the red sox are quite exciting, the basketball team is much more impotant right now and i am happy that mrs. taylor and everyone else realizes this. It is kind of a big deal this game. i am writing this at 3:12 on wednesday before the game because i cant find anything to pass the time i am so excited. by the way when is the girls game? oh yaa.... haha joking

I agree with Alyssa, baseball does mean Spring! Also, i love watching the Red Sox!

Mrs. Taylor, I didn't even know it was the first preseason game already...sad. I can't believe I missed it!

Next time bring a pocket radio, and you can listen to the Sox game, while watching the Lancers game.

I'm excited for the start of baseball season too. I like to watch the games, especially at Fenway. I love getting fried dough and cotton candy!

We're hoping with the addition of some new pitchers to have a great 2009 season!

Since I am being graded in math for this response, I suppose I should include a little bit of numbers. In baseball there are 9 innings, unless it goes into overtime. 3 strikes will get you out. 3 outs will end your team's batting for the inning. 4 balls will make you walk. There is a right angle, or 90 degrees, between every base. Generally, the home run wall is 312 feet to the green monster.

Now i can look forward to the Red Sox after the curshing defeat the basketball team suffered by Cardinal Spellman

I love to watch baseball. Its the next best thing to actually playing, (well technically I play softball but it doesn't really matter). And as fun as the actual game atmosphere is... I'd rather watch a game on t.v so I can get all the stats, and replays, and a better view. I'm really excited for this season.

I agree with Alyssa. spring training to me means SPRING!!! I do like watching the soxs but only when it counts.

oh wow Joe! haha funny ide :p so o iwas really disappointed the boys lost! :( maybe next year! hopefully our baseball team will make it to the tourny too while Red Sox win the world Series!!

The only time i miss games is when i am at work. Any other time I have either the t.v. on or listen on the radio.

I'm really pumped for the baseball season this year! I think the Sox should have a good chance of going deep into the post-season with some of the new additions to the pitching staff we made during the offseason. I'm also looking forward to catching a couple of Lancer baseball games!

Anonymous said...

I'm a big Sox fan!
I am so pumped that the preseason's started. I'm gonna try to go to as many games as possible this year.

By the way, Mrs. Taylor, I'm surprised you haven't posted a blog about how the Patriots traded Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel for a second round draft pick!
What are you thougts on that?

liz f. said...

i love watching baseball and im wicked excited for this season! I hope we make it to the world series!

Anonymous said...

Sam I will probably assume my role of warming the bench as i did during basketball season so I will also have fun watching but on the off chance i do play you guys better be there!

Mary Taylor said...

Chad, I am a little upset about the Patriots trades so I have to calm down before I write about them. I can't believe we got nothing in those trades? I wouldn't be surprised if we lose more players to KC or maybe Denver.

Anonymous said...

I agree the game was much more important, but I am still pretty sad we lost.

Anonymous said...

Yeah...it kind of stinks that we lost the basketball game. At least we have baseball season to look forward to! I love the warmer weather and longer days. Speaking of which, this Sunday is Daylight Savings time. Oh yeah, and I can't believe that the Pats traded Vrabel and Cassel as Chad pointed out, especially Vrabel. He's like a legend with the Pats. Cassel...meh.

Anonymous said...

I agree, Mrs. Taylor. I kept watching ESPN to wait for updates from the trade...
It got doesn't seem to make sense.

I can't believe the lancers lost! I was so upset being there and seeing the deficit they were down by after the first half. But on the other hand,I am so pumped for the start of the red sox season! It should be very interesting because the red sox have made many changes in their lineup/etc.

Anonymous said...

Yeah the Pats trade with Vrabel and Cassel is bizarre. One of those guys alone is worth a draft pick, never mind both of them! Vrabel was probably my favorite player on the Pats too, so it was tough when I heard he got traded.

Anonymous said...

this year for xmas my mom and i each finally got our own jerseys and guess who they were?
yup- cassel and vrabel

Anonymous said...

I agree that we got jipped in the trade with Kansas City. Both Cassel and Vrabel are great players and I think we deserve more than just a second round draft pick for the two them. Who knows maybe a younger player will be a good thing for the veteran team?

Anonymous said...

I agree Eric Varbel was a malking legend for the Pats but you do have to remember he was getting old. Trading Cassel, on the other hand, was risky because you don't know if Brady will be as good as he was but, let's hope so. Also, it is too bad Giselle finally got married. It really hurts my future plans. Just kidding, but she better not hurt Brady's performance this year.

I was also at the game. I think it was well worth going to despite the outcome. The amount of people as well as the morale of the fans was very impressive

Anonymous said...

Yeah I agree with you Aaron. Vrabel was a legend! Now I can't wear my Vrabel jersey without feeling some pain. Keeping Cassel would have been difficult with the salary cap in place. I think it was a good decision though since dropping Cassel opens up space and a lot of money for other prospects. Just the other day we picked up Shaun Springs who should help out our secondary a lot.

liz f. said...

i agree with aron. i also am very concerned on Gisselles affect on Bradys preformance.

Anonymous said...

Yeah they definitely should have waited to trade Cassel after they were sure Brady would be ok.

Anonymous said...

I haven't really watched baseball that much before because it just takes forever for stuff to happen, but I think I'll try to see a few this season.

Anonymous said...

my short rest is over now its time to play baseball

Anonymous said...

WOW! spring training started but it doesnt even feel like spring! Its still so cold! The baseball players must be freezing! And I agree with Nicolette, its sad that the boys lost the basketball game but i hope the baseball team does well! :D

Anonymous said...

First of all I'm sad the boys lost, but still congrats on an excellent season. Now at least we can all get pumped up for the Red Sox! I agree with Sam, I think we are going to have a good chance this year! Can't wait to see it all unfold.

Anonymous said...

i agree with colleen it doesnt feel at all like its time for spring training yet! im excited for all the new spring sports to start though!

Anonymous said...

actually, Aaron isn't kidding at all....................................o.

Anonymous said...

I agree with chad; I would like to go to as many games as possible, but tickets are hard to come by.

Anonymous said...

My dad jsut got Yankees tickets for August. He is suppose to invite a customer to go so what he does is invites the same guy that he knows will bail out so hopefully I'll get to go.

Anonymous said...

I absolutely agree with jess! Sure, its starting to warm up, but spring seems to be taking its time, but I am so pumped to finally watch the red sox!

Anonymous said...

I agree with Alyssa that the start of the baseball season always reminds me that it is spring and that maybe it will finally get warm!

priya said...

Like Kate said, I can't wait to see it all unfold!

Go Redsox! (:

Sam Phillips said...

Its definitely looking like the Red Sox are going to be having a cold start to their season this year as long as the weather stays the way its been. This has got to be one of the coldest starts to the baseball season I've ever seen.

I don't really watch baseball, but my dad'll get me to watch a few games. He's a huge fan of baseball and the Red Sox, as well as the rest of his family! Everyone like gathers at my house to watch the games, which is kind of strange if you don't know they're coming over and you walk downstairs to a bunch of people yelling at the television...

Aaron said...

Sam a cold start means a solid finish. Red Sox yankees in october. It going to happen and I wouldn't have it any other way.
