What's on your mind

  Are you ready for Christmas? I am! I have all my presents bought and wrapped and I have all the food for Christmas day. Now I just have to bake a few desserts and I will be ready. Here is the last of the holiday tv schedule.  If you like the movie "A Christmas Story" you will be happy to hear that TBS will once again run a 24-hour marathon of the movie starting Christmas eve at 8pm. In this post I list all the Holiday specials and some movies.  Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. As the day gets closer we will see more and more Christmas shows on television and I love them all. well most of them.

 Do you enjoy looking at all the houses decorated for Christmas? I will drive around towns just to find houses that are all lit up. This past week I was driven to a street in Holliston and I loved it! Every house on the cul-de-sac had Christmas decorations. Most houses had wooden cut outs lit up. These included m&m's, the Disney gang, Charlie Brown and the gang, minions and so many more. Here are a few of them. A very unique touch on this street were all the wooden boxes that had Christmas scenes inside. Not every house had these but there were close to 20 boxes all together. My cousin and I parked the car on the street and then got out and walked to get a close view of all the Christmas scenes.  One box was titled Santa's Shop in the picture above and then the picture below has a close up scene of what was in that box.  In Making these lists of Christmas specials and movies, I find myself writing the same ones over and over. Those are; Home Alone, Elf, and National Lampoon's Christmas vacation. I do like to watch each of those each Christmas season but they are on television far too often. Don't you think? Here is the list for a few more day. Enjoy.

I thought I had seen every holiday special but I found one that is new to me. I will have to set my DVR for 5am on December 6th because I have never seen "The Story of the First Christmas Snow" and there is no way I will be up at 5am.  At this time last year I was at Walt Disney World in Florida. Each day I go through my memories on Facebook and it makes me wish I was there right now. Christmas time is so pretty at Disney.  I do have another trip planned for March and I have started a countdown already even though it is 100 days away. Is it crazy to already be counting down the days? Will it make the time go by faster or slower? Let's hope for faster.

 This is my favorite time of the year. I love the holiday specials on television! Because I enjoy them so much I make up a weekly schedule of what shows are on and when. I will be sharing that schedule here each week. As we get closer to December 25th there will be a lot more holiday specials mentioned on this blog.  Have you tried to book a flight lately? If you have a trip coming up, you may be paying a fortune for your airfare. Last month I booked a flight with JetBlue round trip to Orlando. The flight is for early March. I paid $383 for the round trip non-stop flight that leaves in the morning. I recently checked the price of that same round trip flight and the cost is more than double at $788. WOW is all I can say. I checked the prices with other airlines and I am so glad I did not wait to book my flight. I used the same criteria with other airlines: non-stop Boston to Orlando morning flights both ways free carry on bag The cheapest flight I found was on Frontier Airlines but I have to pay $35 for my checked bag so that price was $555. Next was Delta at a cost of $648 which included the free carry one. Spirit, which I thought was a cheaper airline was the most expensive at $804 and that does NOT include a carry one which is an additional $35 Airline prices are crazy!! Southwest was a litt...

While I was teaching I always hated having to take vacations when everyone else did so I vowed that when I retired I would vacation during the school year. Since I am a Disney addict I try to go to Disney every year. I have gone the week of Labor Day when everyone is in school and it is still 100 degrees at Disney World. (but not very crowded) I have also gone the week after Thanksgiving to experience Disney Christmas and it was beautiful!! (but a little more expensive) Now I am planning a trip for the second week of March. Here's hoping there are no late snow storms to cancel my flight to Florida. This March trip is being done when Disney is offering a 25% discount on hotels. My 6 day/5 night vacation with 4 day park hopper pass is costing me $2184. Then add in my flight and transportation to and from the airports and my total is up to $2600. Once I spend money on food I am sure I will be over $3000. I love Disney, but am wondering if I should take a break from spending so much mo...

 Does Alex Cora have an issue with Bobby Dalbec? In the past month we have seen several WooSox players be called up to the big leagues, but not Bobby. Dalbec is having a great year in Worcester and I don't understand why he isn't getting a chance.  Red Sox - if you aren't going to give him a chance then let him go to a team that appreciates him and will give him a chance in the big league. Can you tell he is one of my favorites?

 I want to give a shout out to the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor, Maine. I recently planned a trip to Maine and was hoping to stay there for 3 days but on the first leg of my trip in Portland Maine I had to turn around and head home due to illness. I called Atlantic Oceanside that morning and let them know I would not be arriving that afternoon. They were very nice and understanding about illnesses happen and let me know there would be NO charge for cancelling. I had not paid anything extra for a cancellation policy so this meant the world to me. I can't wait to reschedule this trip and I will most definitely be staying at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel. Thank you again for being so understanding and compassionate. Most hotels would have charged me for one nights stay. (at least) 

 Anyone else out there waiting for an appliance to come in? I ordered a dishwasher last August and have yet to get it. I call Wickford appliance every couple of weeks to get an update and they still can't tell me when it will be in. ARGH  I received my refrigerator, microwave and stove in a timely fashion but I guess dishwashers are in demand. I have been washing dishes by hand for so long now, I just want a break!! I guess there are worse things in life and I should just suck it up but they have had my money for all this time and I still don't have the product.  If anyone is shopping for Bosch dishwashers, be warned, they are in high demand.

I am really looking forward to seeing this movie.  My favorite football team and some of my favorite players along with some great Hollywood leading ladies.  Just a couple more weeks to wait. The show opens on February 3rd.  and did I mention how much I like this video?
