Christmas is only 31 days away

How is your holiday shopping going? I have barely started mine. I need to find time to get shopping. I love wrapping presents so I need to buy things to wrap. I am writing this post as I sit watching The Grinch on TBS. I am not very happy with TBS. They shortened the cartoon to fit in a 30 minute slot with commercials. Now "An Elf Story is coming on" I have never seen this one before. Norton Cross Country 5K

Image
Norton Cross Country sponsored a 5K this morning at the high school. I enjoyed watching both students and teachers running. Saw a few alumni return for the run as well. Seemed like everyone had a good time, I certainly did. Great job to all the runners. Here are some scenes from the morning

Let the countdown begin

Only 23 days until school starts for students in Norton. My first workday is August 22nd so that means only 11 more days until I return to school. I am looking forward to another great year with awesome students. I am teaching Pre-Calc for the first time in 3 years so that has me excited along with Honors Algebra II for the first time in 6 years. My last two classes are my fun movie classes, Advanced Math Topics . We have a few changes at Norton High. We have a new principal, new assistant principal, and a new bell schedule. The school day will now end at 2:09 instead of 2:03. The complete bell schedule is posted on the math department page. Everyone enjoy the last 3 weeks of summer. Make the most of the time like I intend to and see everyone on Tuesday September 3rd.

Cape Cod Canal

Image
I spent a nice relaxing day at the canal on Thursday June 27th. The weather was perfect and the views were beautiful. I packed a cooler with plenty of cold drinks and my lunch and spent seven hours reading my book and watching the many sailboats come through the canal. I applied sun screen multiple times but still got a bit of a burn on my arms. I used the spray sunscreen so I think the wind may have blown a lot of it away. Next time I will use lotion that I rub in. Not too many big boats. Lots of sail boats and a few tankers. Always enjoy my days at the canal, so I am sure I will do that 2 or 3 more times this summer. This week I hope to get to Yarmouth for the annual sand sculptures

Start of summer

Image
Summer break came early for me this year. The last day I was at school was Monday June 17th. I spent the rest of that week preparing for my sons college graduation party. He graduated from Mass Maritime Academy at 10am Saturday morning and his party was at 3:00 that same day. I am one proud mama as we celebrated all of his accomplishments. BS in emergency management, graduation from the NH state police academy and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the army. He has done so much for a 22 year old.  Once the celebrating was over I had time to relax by the pool. Water is still a little chilly for me even though it's 75 degrees. I would prefer closer to 80 degrees. I started planning my day trips for this summer. First was my trip to the canal (in another blog post). I do love my summer. I will be blogging about each of my day trips and sharing some pictures. I hope everyone else has a GREAT summer too.

Where are our snow days

I feel so bad for my seniors. This is the year that they don't have to make up the days when we have a snow day and there hasn't been a single snow day for them. There is talk of some snow this weekend. I am hoping that there is enough snow Sunday night to cancel school for them on Monday. I just don't want there to be too many snow days because if we don't have any our last day of school is Thursday June 13th. I will LOVE having a nice long summer vacation. I could take lots of day trips

Where is winter?

This winter is turning out to be a big nothing. I am patiently waiting for that big snow storm as I am sure all my seniors are as well. They want lots of snow days since they do not have to make them up. Graduation date is already set for June 7th and that won't change no matter how many snow days.  I would love to have one snow day in January, one in February and maybe one in March.  Right now, without any snow days, the last day of school is Thursday June 13th. I don't mind coming to school until Tuesday June 18th if we have 3 snow days. COME ON SNOW DAYS!
