One week from today and all the Norton teachers will be returning to school. I have mixed emotions at this time. I am excited to return to school, but at the same time I am nervous about my knee holding up for a full day. I always look forward to returning because I miss my kids. This year I have a little more excitement because I am teaching a new class called advanced math topics. I have spent lots of time this summer viewing the movies we will be watching in class. I hope my kids like the class as much as I think they will. I am also excited about the new school renovations. I will have a brand new office that I have to decorate. Looking forward to that. Up until now I have note been on the go for a full day. I do activities then rest the knee for awhile then do more activities. Lets hope I can go a full 8 hours. Hope everyone, including me, has a happy and healthy school year!

Thankfully there has been a lot of improvement since my last post. I can now go in the pool which has made me very happy. I also got the okay to drive again. Today was the first day I went out by myself. I drove to a friends house in Attleboro for a house warming party. I was so excited that I didn't need any crutches to walk today. This was a great day. With improvements like this I should be ready to return to school in September.

Wow, 4 months since my last post on this blog. So much has happened since the last post. I had to say goodbye to the class of 2013. Thanks for inviting me to the all night grad party. I think I had more fun than some of the graduates, I am always amazed at how easy it is for me to stay awake all night. The other big event that has happened is my knee surgery. On June 17th I had total knee replacement. I knew there would be pain after this surgery, but didn't imagine this much pain. WOW! I can barely bend my knee so I can't go any where. Can't get in the car. I spend my days watching TV, reading, playing games on facebook, and doing my PT exercises. Now I think I will be spending more time on my blog. I have a physical therapist that comes to my house M-W-F at 9am. Wednesday I was able to bend my knee 78 degrees. I'm hoping it bends more than 80 degrees tomorrow during PT. I need to move this recovery along a little faster, I want to salvage some of my summer. I have...

I am now starting the time of the school year that I refer to as crunch time. I have one month to review everything to AP Calc before they take the big test on May 8th. I get so nervous during this time worrying that I won't have enough time to be able to go over everything. Lets hope for the best.

I have a week off from school so what should I do to keep myself busy this week? I always seem to make doctor appointments during my school vacation weeks, but I need to do something fun as well. So what are you doing this week? I imagine some of my students are doing some college visits.I know my son is.  I am going to Mass Maritime in Bourne with my son on Thursday afternoon. Then Friday I am taking a trip to the cape. I love winter cape cod trips.Then I will end my vacation in front of the TV watching the Daytona 500 Sunday afternoon. Let the racing begin!

This week is a special week for me. Thursday is my anniversary. no not my wedding anniversary, but my cancer free anniversary. 8 years ago I had surgery to remove cancer from my right lung.  Each year I go without the cancer returning decreases my chances of  "it" ever coming back. The doctors tell me if I can go 2 more years then I can stop having routine scans and check ups because the chance of this type of cancer returning after 10 years is slim to none. January 31st has become a very special day in my life!

The view outside is always so pretty right after the snow has fallen (like this morning). I was getting a little worried that we may not get any more snow this winter since the temperatures have been in the 50's, but thankfully the snow came today. Let's hope there is lots more to come in the next month.
